CranioSacral Therapy
This therapy encourages the health and wellness of the centeral nervous system by using gentle techniques to realign the craniosacral system, which surrounds and protects the spinal chord and brain. It runs from the top of the cranium down the spine to the sacrum (or tail bone). When the craniosacral system is restored, the central nervous system is free of restrictions, and your body can begin to heal itself. Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams - about the weight of a nickel - practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CranioSacral therapy is done with patient fully clothed, lying on their back.
Benefits of CranioSacral Therapy
CST is thought to relieve compression in the head, neck, and back. This can soothe pain and release both emotional and physical stress and tension. It's also thought to help restore cranial mobility and ease or release restrictions of the head, neck, and nerves. By normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body's ability to self-correct, CranioSacral Therapy is able to alleviate a wide variety of dysfunctions, from chronic pain and sports injuries to stroke and neurological impairment.
How Does It Work?
The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system, which affects the body's ability to function properly. The central nervous system is deeply affected by the Craniosacral System - the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord. Every day your body endures stresses and strains, which cause the body's tissues to tighten and distort the craniosacral system, by forming restrictions around the brain and spinal cord.
This can create a barrier to the healthy performance of the central nervous system, and potentially every other system it interacts with. Healing Hands Inc CranioSacral Practitioners release these restrictions in the tissues of the body, thus restoring the flow of the Craniosacral fluid around the brain and spinal cord, which enhances the body's ability to self-correct.
